Comforting Faith Newsletter

Sleeping fewer than 5 hours a night may lead to hardened arteries. To get a full night's sleep, follow these tips by the National Sleep Foundation:

• Maintain a regular bed and wake time schedule, including weekends
• Establish a relaxing bedtime routine such as reading or taking a bath
• Sleep in a dark, quiet and cool room
• Sleep on a comfortable mattress and pillow
• Use your bedroom only for sleep and romance
• Finish eating at least 2-3 hours before bedtime
• Exercise regularly, but complete the routine a few hours before bedtime
• Avoid caffeine close to bedtime
• Avoid alcohol and nicotine, particularly close to bedtime

Put down the mop and take a breather. According to a new study, housecleaning may be risky for women who have asthma, causing symptom flare-ups. In a related study, nurses who were regularly exposed to hospital cleaners and disinfectants reported higher asthma rates than their nonexposed coworkers. http://www.yourtotalhealth.ivillage.com
