To Be Like You
Lord when we grow up
We want to be like you
Full of mercy, proclaiming the truth
Generous, loving, forgiving and kind
People of integrity with singleness of mind
Encouraging others; lifting up, never down
Not easily offended, a joy to be around
Quick to listen to other’s cares
And interceding for them, fervent in prayer
Tender hearted and gentle in deed and word
With a great sense of humor like our loving Lord
If the desire of our heart’s become the same as thine
Your love will be abundant, flowing like wine
Oh make us even willing to drink the bitter cup
So we can be like you Lord,
When we grow up.
