The Light on Our Path
The path through life is sometimes dark,
Sometimes rough, sometimes hard.
Uphill and down we travel along,
Decisions to make, keep us on guard
In winter’s snow and summer’s heat,
Finding our way from season to season,
With springtime flowers and autumn’s gold
Looking for meaning, seeking a reason.
Sometimes we feel so all alone,
Too weak to go on many a day,
But if we ask our God for help,
Always a light will shine the way.
In stormy times our feet may slip,
But turning back is not a choice
We reap the consequences dear,
Whether we grieve or we rejoice.
Though we don’t see the end of our road
We can see ahead as far as the bend,
From there, the top of the very next hill,
We know we’ll arrive, but don’t know when.
We’ll get to the place of the very old.
Taking our slow steps day by day,
Its harder and harder to find the path,
But always a light will shine the way.
